Our team is among the most experienced in Bankruptcy Law in Northern Michigan. It would be our pleasure to put our extensive experience to work for you.
Paul Bare is one of the partners of Bare and Clough, P.C. Paul graduated from the University of Michigan in 1974 with a BA in Science. He then took a year off, did some snow skiing and decided to follow in his father's footsteps as a lawyer. He graduated from Wayne State University Law School in 1976. Paul's family are long time summer people on Crystal Lake so he decided what better place to open his new law practice than in Traverse City, Michigan. Paul has been practicing bankruptcy law since 1978 and has been filing bankruptcies exclusively since 1980. In 2006, with the advent of the new bankruptcy law and the increase in the steps required to file bankruptcies, he asked attorney Cici Clough to join him. They made it an official professional corporation in January, 2011. Paul has extensive experience in the bankruptcy field and has handled several thousand cases. Paul has long been involved in the community through such organizations as Third Level Crisis Center Legal Assistance, the Women's Resource Center and the State Theater, among others. In 2006 he received the Outstanding Volunteer Pro Bono Service award from the Grand Traverse-Leelanau-Antrim Bar Association, Legal Services of Northern Michigan, Third Level Crisis Intervention Center and the Women's Resource Center. He is a member of the Grand Traverse, Leelanau, Antrim Bar Association, The American Bankruptcy Institute and The National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys. In 2006 he received a tribute from the Governor of Michigan for his efforts in the community.
Cici Clough is one of the partners of Bare & Clough, P.C. She has worked with Paul Bare since 2006 and became his partner in 2010. Cici graduated from The Ohio State University in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She attended Case Western Reserve University College of Law in Cleveland, Ohio, graduating cum laude with a Juris Doctor in 2000. Cici is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the United Stated District Court for the Western District of Michigan, the American Bankruptcy Institute and the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys. She is also licensed to practice in the State of Ohio. She enjoys the challenges of practicing in the highly specialized area of bankruptcy law, but truly finds satisfaction in working with and helping her clients get the fresh start that they deserve. Cici lives in Traverse City with her husband, Erik Foged, and two sons, Ellison and Rowan. Though Cici is a Buckeye at heart and supports her Ohio teams, she loves living in Northern Michigan and calls it her home.
Sheryl Munschy started with Paul Bare in August of 1990. She opted to stay home with her young boys for five years and came back to work for Bare and Clough, P.C. in 2008. She has worked for Paul and then Bare & Clough, PC, for a combined total of 16 years. She prepares and files personal and business Chapter 13 and Chapter 7 bankruptcies. Sheryl is married to Da and has 4 children. The love of Sheryl's family is horses. They each have a horse and like to trail ride and camp with the horses on in-state and out-of-state rides.
Legal Assistant Linda started working for Paul in May 1990. For a couple of months it was just Paul and Linda. Linda reviews Chapter 13 proofs of claim, directs tax returns to the trustee's office on filed Chapter 13's and objects to proofs of claim when necessary. Her specialty is watering the plants and it is certain that there would be no live office plants if it weren't for her expertise. Linda's beloved late dog Cady was the office's first "mascot" and therapy dog and is missed by the office. Linda loves the outdoors and enjoys long walks and snow shoeing with her new canine companion Farley. She lives in Traverse City with her husband and has three grown daughters.
Cleone Just Settle It (debt negotiation) Cleone began her work with Paul and Cici in 2008 as a legal assistant, working with clients and getting cases ready for preparation. In 2010 she began doing debt settlements for Bare & Clough, P.C. and has had great success negotiating tremendous discounts for the firm's clients. Debt negotiation, when possible, is an excellent alternative to bankruptcy and her negotiation skills have helped many people. Cleone is married and has 2 grown daughters and a stepson as well as a brand new grandson Finnegan. Cleone is also the office's official PPP, or "Permanent Party Planner" and has filled many an office celebration with much laughter and the occasional tear. Her dogs, first Elvis (RIP) and now, Dr. Watson, also provide entertainment and comfort for the staff and clients, often called the office mascots. When all else fails her baked treats are sure to warm the hearts and stomachs of staff and clients alike.
Nikki Westfall started with Bare & Clough in 2008 as a summer job in high school. She continued to work most summers throughout undergrad. She has now returned to the office after graduating law school and is learning the bankruptcy business by preparing Chapter 7 bankruptcies.
